NOC TIER II Virtualization—Citrix/System Admin

Essential Job Functions

  • Be part of RKON’s 24/7 Network Operation Center, responsible for managing client networks.
  • Provide day-to-day support on Citrix and Microsoft technologies.
  • Must be comfortable with a broad cross-section of IT technologies and disciplines including networking, Wintel architectures and virtualization.
  • Work closely with TIER I engineers in managing alerts, daily backups, and meeting SLA requirements.
  • Serve as the technical point of contact to clients for any technology inquiry.
  • Work with RKON’s Professional Services team in provisioning new servers and appliances.
  • Assist in the design, planning, troubleshooting, and deployment of technologies on any active projects.
  • Actively participate in planning, designing, and implementing virtualization solutions and range of products and productivity tools that support the testing and production of those systems.
  • Follow life-cycle-oriented processes and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, upgrade and provide solutions to complex hardware/software problems.
  • Regularly interface with technical and business staff of customers, including the project sponsor and stakeholders in more complex engagements.
  • Identify and communicate potential cross-selling opportunities to the sales team.
  • Manage time and expenses to meet or exceed expectations defined in the Statement of Work.
  • Provide high-quality content deliverables using the appropriate document templates.
  • Ensure solution is implemented as designed to the customer's satisfaction and approval per the agreed scope.
  • Work with consultants, professional services, project managers, and customers to manage expectations and timelines to ensure expectations and commitments are met.
  • Educate the customer on solutions, as appropriate, throughout the life of the project or service.
  • Mentor other engineers.
  • This position requires participation in an on-call rotation in support of 24/7 operations during which the TIER II on-call acts as the primary escalation point to TIER I.

      • Rolling out redundant, mission-critical applications is a plus
      • Configuration management tools is a plus
      • Administration/architecture is a plus
      • Data center migrations in a technical lead role
      • Implementing and supporting backup solutions
  • College diploma or university degree in a technical field, preferably from an accredited university
  • Ability to work well in a cross-functional team environment
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • Strong analytical skills for problem solving and quantitative analysis
  • Excellent written and oral communications in a fast-paced environment
