If you haven’t heard yet, the social network for businesses, LinkedIn has been compromised and a list of user’s encrypted passwords has been posted on the Internet. RKON recommends that you change your password now if you haven’t already, and always make sure you are using different passwords for each web site.
Interestingly, the Daily Mail suggests that a number of people are unhappy with their jobs having used such passwords as, “‘hopeless,’ ‘killmenow’, ‘iwishiwasdead’, and ‘hatemyjob’.”
On a more serious note, many employees use the same password to log into just about everything online. LinkedIn is a business social network and each profile includes the name of the company where each person works. Hackers will be attempting these stolen passwords against your business network and may be able to gain access.
Once again this highlights the need for in-depth web application security audits. Contact us for a web application security assessment.
